I work with adults and young people aged 16–18, of all genders and backgrounds.

Maybe you’re used to keeping things to yourself. Maybe you’ve learnt not to make a fuss, ask for help or let anyone see that you’re struggling.

I have a particular interest in shame, relationships and the expectations we carry about who we should be. That includes working with men who’ve grown up believing they should be strong, self-sufficient and always ā€œfineā€.

Whatever your gender or background, you’re welcome here.

You don’t need a particular problem or a neat explanation. We can start with whatever has made you think about talking to someone.

The Talking Cave

What Happens In Therapy?

We’ll start with what’s brought you here, even if you’re not sure how to explain it.

I’ll listen, ask questions and explore things with you. That might mean talking through something happening now, noticing patterns in your relationships or understanding how earlier experiences still affect you.

Sometimes we might sit quietly with something difficult. We might laugh. You might lose your thread or need time to find the words. That’s all part of it.

My approach is humanistic and integrative. In everyday terms, that means getting to know you and adapting how we work together to suit you.

The relationship we build matters. We’ll talk about how you’re finding the sessions, including anything that feels uncomfortable or isn’t helping.

Making Sense Of How You Cope

People develop ways of coping for a reason.

Keeping quiet might once have kept you safe. Being fiercely independent might have helped you avoid relying on people who let you down. Looking after everyone else might have left little room for your own needs.

We can explore what those patterns have done for you, what still helps and where they might now be making life harder.

Finding a Pace That Works

You choose what you share. You don’t have to tell your whole story in the first session.

There’s room for silence, uncertainty and needing time to find the words.

Ā

We’ll talk about what feels manageable and check in as we go.
